ATTESTING RESISTANCE

 

Angela Marie Schenstead is an artist of Cree and mixed-European ancestry. She was born and raised in Saskatoon, is a member of One Arrow First Nation, and has been a resident of Alberta since 1998. She has earned a Fine Art Diploma from Grant MacEwan University, Edmonton (2003), and a Bachelor of Fine Art in Ceramics from Alberta College of Art + Design, Calgary (2007). She was a participant of the studio work study program in Visual Arts at The Banff Centre, Banff (2008), and a resident artist at both Medalta, Medicine Hat (2007) and Bruno Arts Bank, Bruno (2011). She curated FIRE, Stride Gallery, Calgary (2012). Her art works have been exhibited as part of the group show Indigeneity at The Works Art & Design Festival, Edmonton (2012). Her pen on paper drawings were exhibited for Drawings, because of the land at Botega, Banff (2012). She currently works as program coordinator in Visual Arts at The Banff Centre.
